In training, lateral movements are practiced when passing the corners of the arena and moving in a circle or a volt.
Lateral movements develop flexibility and mobility of all parts of the horse’s body, greater bringing of the hind legs, as well as a soft connection with the horse’s mouth.
In a turn, the horse obeys the controls better, improves the rhythm of its movement, harmony of balance and gait.
