Runs
In recent years, in many countries, competitions on runs at distances from 40 to 160 km have become widespread. the Greatest distance is set at the world Championships (in 1998, the 7th championship was held in the United Arab Emirates).
The main task of these competitions is not to pass the distance at the maximum speed, but to maintain the normal physiological state of the horse at all stages.
At the established control points, the horses ‘ pulse, respiratory rate and temperature are measured. In case of exceeding these indicators and before their return to normal, the horse is not allowed to continue passing the distance.
Horses of various breeds perform successfully in running competitions, but the best results were achieved by representatives of the Arab breed and their crossbreeds. Russian equestrians are just beginning to master this sport and have not yet had any noticeable success. However, it should be noted that the relative simplicity of such competitions allows them to be held in large volumes and in different regions of the country.
